The X-Files, Millennium, Space: Above & Beyond, M.A.N.T.I.S... tenían un montón de cosas.

Batman V Superman‘s Warehouse Fight Is A Classic 15:36
Batman V Superman‘s Warehouse Fight Is A Classic
While Snyder’s DC movies didn’t work for everyone, it’s obvious that Zack Snyder had a clear vision and style in mind for his films, and that sometimes yielded stunning splash page shots that look like the comic panels coming to life. This version of Batman is famously played by Ben Affleck, who faced serious blowback from the announcement that he’d be taking on the cape and cowl. However, he won most of us over after seeing the incredible costume designed by Mike Wilkenson and the fighting style and choreography by Damon Caro. Wilkenson stated that he wanted to match the design to the blue and grey cloth look that Batman wore in Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns” graphic novel and it’s safe to say that he succeeded in giving it a minimal, yet still practical look. The design doesn’t include armor padding or plating, but instead is a durable fabric that tells audiences just how tough our caped crusader is. The warehouse fight is among the very best Batman action scenes of the franchise. The kinetic and frantic camerawork by Larry Fong really highlights Batman’s strength and speed. The previz for this scene required weeks of training, camera testing, and shot-listing in order to pull off the fight exactly as Snyder imagined it. The result is a brutal brawl that is a one-to-one match with the original storyboard. The fight was also done using mostly practical effects which any audience member would appreciate as the energy of the fight never fades away in a blur of muddy CGI. Upon the release of the film, fans quickly noticed that Batman’s hulking fighting style and movements seemed to mimic that of Batman in the beloved Arkham video games. His blocks, strikes, and dodges all seemed very similar to the game which in many ways is a huge compliment to the filmmakers. Interestingly, Damon Caro stated that he’d never seen any trailers or gameplay from the Arkham series and he designed Batman’s fight style off of what he thought worked best for the character. No matter, we love the way Bruce kicks ass in this scene. We have so many more interesting facts to share with you in today’s episode of Scene Breakdown where we look at the scene together and talk about some fun facts and trivia that went into the making of it. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE how much money Warner Brothers asked Ben Affleck to pay to keep his batsuit... Find out in today’s episode! Punisher: War Zone - We Learn to Love This Demented Epic 14:28
Punisher: War Zone - We Learn to Love This Demented Epic
2008 was a wild year for superhero movies. We received a wide-ranging spectrum of films that with varying degrees of acclaim and quality. We got to see the birth of the MCU with Iron Man, we saw the Hulk make a comeback to the big screen, and we even got one of the most beloved superhero films of all time with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. And hidden away in the treasure chest of caped media from that year is Lexi Alexander’s neon-soaked and blood drenched crime drama- Punisher War Zone. Punisher War Zone is a lionsgate film that is widely forgotten by the masses, but remembered by fans of the character. The film stars the late Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle A.K.A The Punisher as he’s five years into his career as the brutal and violent vigilante. But when Frank accidentally crosses the line between hero and villain, he’s forced to make things right while also taking down his biggest threat yet. Now, this movie was originally set to be a sequel to 2005’s The Punisher (which we covered in a previous episode) and some of the DNA of the script made its way into the final version. And I recall renting this movie when it came out and having a different opinion of it then, than I do now. But today the most important question is of course how does this movie hold up all these years later? And really, this is my journey in learning to love Punisher War Zone.
