The vow of secrecy is lifting on next year's Jurassic Park sequel and we're getting some major details directly from the film's director. Last week JoBlo posted some possible spoilers about next year's Jurassic World that made some fans not too happy about where the fourth film was going. In response to that leaked information, director Colin Trevorrow spoke with Slash Film to set the record straight. Needless to say, we will be entering spoiler territory from here - you've been warned. As we've heard before, the film takes place 22 years after the events of the first movie and Jurassic Park has been transformed into a fully functional attraction called Jurassic World. Jurassic World was built on the original island of Isla Nublar and receives 20,000 visitors each day who take a ferry from Costa Rica. John Hammond's original dream has been taken to the next level with the park not only housing dinosaur exhibits, but also a theme park and luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and even a golf course. Trevorrow explained that the idea behind Jurassic World was to explore two elements of our modern society. The first being how money often fuels our biggest mistakes. It was clear from the first film that humanity thinking it can control nature rarely turns out well, but people are willing to do it anyway if it means they can make heaps of money. The second idea was how technology has become such an inherent part of our lives that we've become numb to scientific miracles around us. They wanted to explore a world where science has brought back dinosaurs and people are kind of over it already. Trevorrow explained saying quote, "We imagined a teenager texting his girlfriend with his back to a T-Rex behind protective glass. For us, that image captured the way much of the audience feels about the movies themselves. "We've seen CG dinosaurs. What else you got?" Next year, you'll see our answer." This theme carries into the film's plot with the creation of a brand new dinosaur. In order to keep visitors coming to the park, the company has mandated that the geneticists create a dinosaur that's bigger, louder and has more teeth than even the T-Rex. Despite this news raising red flags among fans, Trevorrow promises that the dinosaur won't be a mutated freak and this idea is something original Jurassic Park writer Michael Crichton suggested in his novels. The new dinosaur will be created the same way the other dinosaurs were, but utilizing genetics that have gone to the next level. As for star Chris Pratt's character, Trevorrow says he will be a scientist doing behavioral research on the raptors trying to discover the limits of the relationship between them and humans. Despite some rumors that have circulated, they won't be trained to do tricks or be considered "good" or "bad" dinosaurs. As with all the dinosaurs, they will simply be predators or prey. Despite how fans of the original film feel about the direction of Jurassic World, Trevorrow insists he's not ruining anyone's childhood, but making a film for a new generation of fans whose childhood is happening now. He says that the studio has given him the resources to tell the story he wants to tell and it will be different from the previous films and if it doesn't work, he takes full responsibility for it, but hopes fans will give it a chance. Jurassic World is set to hit theaters on June 12th, 2015 and to find out what other big movies we will be seeing next summer, be sure to click right here.
